This is a (possibly silly) space to document what I bake and what I learn about baking. I do see baking as part of my creative practice—the kitchen is both a metaphorical and literal place for me to create, etc.
Recipe from King Arthur Baking, divided into 4 mini loaf pans and baked for 30 mins. Unlike the recipe I usually use (which is also a KAF recipe, but older) this one called for brown sugar and white whole wheat flour. I enjoyed the fanfare of sharing/ gifting mini-loaves — feels more intentional than sawing off half a 9x5 loaf for someone.
Yellow cake with malted chocolate cream cheese frosting. Cake recipe from King Arthur Baking, cream cheese frosting from Claire Saffitz (added malted milk powder in place of some of the powdered sugar). I had to make the cakes twice, and the decorating left frosting all over the kitchen. But so very worth it.
